Dear friends and members of the UIC community and beyond, 

Last week on Feb 6th, two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.8 and 7.6 struck Turkey. Approximately over 10 million people were affected around 10 cities of Turkey and more than 5 million in the Northern regions of Syria. These recent earthquakes that took place in Turkey have brought unprecedented destruction and loss of life in the Southeastern region of Turkey and Northern Syria. 

The scale of the disaster is beyond comprehension, with around 35,000 people dead only in Turkey and the death toll is expected to increase.

Tens of thousands are still under the rubble, and hundreds of thousands of people are without shelter and food. It is our responsibility to support those affected. 

As the UIC Turkish Community we are reaching out to you for aid and relief to those families, children and anyone that is suffering from this tragic disaster. 

We have come together and launched our page to support the people who are affected. The funds raised will be used to provide basic necessities such as food, water, shelter, and medical supplies in the region.
