JOIN US FOR A GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING AND SOCIAL ON AUGUST 31ST

All GAs and TAs are invited to attend the first General Membership Meeting of the Fall 2011 semester on August 31st from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Room 713 of Student Center East.  We’ll be discussing the union’s plans for the upcoming semester and year, so come and join in the discussion about your union!

At 6:30 p.m. on August 31st, we will hold a Welcome (Back) Social at the GEO office (815 W. Van Buren St. Suite 203) to kick off the semester, so come meet new TAs and GAs and learn more about your union.

September 12th:  Know Your Contract (Lecture Center A6), 5-7 p.m. Are you wondering what the GEO contract covers and what your rights as a graduate employee are under the contract?  Come learn about how you are protected and how the contract affects things like workload, sick pay, and other aspects of your employment.  Be informed about your contract! 

September 27th: GEO Teach-In. Students? Workers? Both? Graduate Employees and the Changing University. 11-1pm 6th Floor SCE

Come hear keynote speaker Cary Nelson ( author of No University is an Island) and grad employees like yourself discuss the threats to graduate education and employment at UIC and what we can do to fight off these attacks during our next round of contract negotiations next year.
